What car insurance companies are good for young drivers on full licence?

I want to be able to take my daughter on and off my policy as she will be at uni most of the time. I’ve heard that some insurance companies say that they will allow this and then don’t. Anyone had good or bad experiences?

Since insurance companies cannot verify when someone drives, they write policies for six months at a time, thats the deal. Too many people would lie and take advantage. If they were to drive and not be on the policy because you had forgotten to call, now your mad because they will void your own policy and not cover the wreck, so they avoid all that by making you pay a full six month block . You can change her address with them, and you always should notify them where she lives, but its where the car will be parked at night, your place or at college that matters on the quote, not the hours she will be driving it, not the days, its the miles she will drive it in a said period, remember that question when you got insurance, its the same as that. If she lives at the university, ask if they will give her a non owners policy and if that is good for driving your car occassionally or is it for non family members owned cars, that might save you some money. It will still be you, paying your own deductable if she wrecks the car though I think I was told. Save money on the policy but pay more if a problem happens, anyhow good luck on that. I do not let my kids drive, at all, not once my car, its too valuable to me, and if tthey want to drive they pay thier own insurance policy in full and promise to pay the deducatable, none ever got jobs to pay for the insurance and the five hundred in the bank to pay for the deductable if they need to use it. My cars not worth much anymore, so I told them its 2500.00 in the bank at all times, and pay for insurance, they take the bus, and love having all that money to spend on what they want instead of the ins and deposit I require!

Here are two articles you might find helpful. The first is for temporary or short term insurance, specifically for college students/graduates.
The second explains how to get cheap insurance by using insurance quotes.
