How long is your honeymoon because it does take a while for unemployment to come through - it could be up to two months. You also have to be already laid off to apply. You’ll need a record of employment from your company and to go to the unemployment office. You WILL NOT be able to leave the country while on unemployement as you are required to look for work during that time.

check the internet - in Penna - you file online. look for California Unemployment in Google - 2 months??? there might be a waiting week where you don’t get benefits, but I doubt it will take take 2 months to receive your first check - that seems ridiculous

Just apply anyway and when you are being interviewed, tell the unemployment interviewer what you told us. Maybe there are ways to work things out. Hope you are able to collect.
